What is StellarFi?


StellarFi is a Public Benefit Corporation set out to solve one of the biggest economic problems faced by American consumers -- access to credit. We make it easy for people to consolidate their bills on our platform and pay them on time. Since we’re making the payments on behalf of our users, we’re able to reliably report positive payment history to all three credit bureaus and help build credit.

Who can use StellarFi?


Anyone who would like to build or repair their credit, or simply improve their score on a regular basis, will be able to accomplish their goals using the Stellar app. StellaFi's tools are also useful to anyone who would like to consolidate their bill payments in one simple platform. You must have a valid social security number and be at least 18 years of age to use StellarFi.

How does it work?


It only takes a few steps to build your credit with StellarFi. Individuals can onboard in three minutes by creating a profile and linking their bank account. Once in the dashboard, users activate credit monitoring and set up billers to automatically pay any recurring expenses. 

From there, StellarFi handles your credit building. StellarFi connects to individual billers and pays the bills on behalf of users. After the bill is sent, StellarFi collects the amount owed from users’ linked bank accounts then reports positive payment history to the credit bureaus. The payment will look like a credit card payment. Your report will say: Name, LOC amount, on-time payment.

Why should I use StellarFi?


We are the only reliable credit builder that helps you pay your bills on time and requires no deposit. StellarFi users will have the chance to earn rewards as they use the app. As a public benefit corporation, StellarFi is uniquely aligned to serve the underresourced by making good credit universally accessible.

Do I need to have a credit score to apply?


No, not at all. That’s why we’re here to help!

How long does it take to set up an account?


Account setup times may vary, but we found that most users can set up a StellarFi account in under three minutes.

What documents do I need to set up an account?


Although we do not collect any documents, you'll need to answer several questions to confirm your identity.

Are there any hidden fees?


There are absolutely NO hidden fees.

Is StellarFi safe?


It sure is! StellarFi uses bank grade security and the most modern encryption tools to provide optimal protection to our customers. We do not store any of your financial information. Instead, we keep random digital tokens to represent your account at your financial institution.

How's StellarFi different from Experian Boost or other companies that report rent, utilities, and subscriptions?


Unlike companies that simply report your payment history by reviewing bank statements or rental agreements, StellarFi actually pays bills on your behalf and collects the funds from your account, giving you a payment cushion. Since StellarFi takes risk paying your bills we are able to report your positive history and build your credit in a reliable way.

How is StellarFi different from free credit score providers like Credit Karma?


Although we provide you with similar tools to monitor your credit, our focus is to help you pay your bills and build credit.

Can I pay my bills with StellarFi?


Yes! Once you’ve linked your current bills, StellarFi will make the payment on your behalf and then debit your bank account. That way we are able to report your payment history to all of the major credit bureaus!

What happens if StellarFi misses a bill payment?


As long as you have sufficient funds in your linked bank account, StellarFi guarantees that we will make your payments on time, every time. In a rare case where something breaks and we mess up, we will cover your late fees and penalties.

What if I don't have enough money in my bank account?


StellarFi will alway check your balance before withdrawing a payment so you never have to worry about overdraft fees.

Will StellarFi improve the same credit score that lenders use? And how will StellarFi impact my credit report?


StellarFi payments will be counted by TransUnion, Experian and Equifax, and almost all lenders nationwide refer to consumer FICO scores from one or more of these lenders. StellarFi improves the credit scores that you’ll use to achieve your goals, like buying a home or lowering your interest rates.

StellarFi will create a new credit account on your credit report. While StellarFi is NOT a credit card or a loan, your on-time bill payments will build your payment history and the credit account will improve your credit utilization ratio (also called your credit-to-debt ratio). All three major credit bureaus (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax) have agreed that StellarFi payments can and should contribute to consumer credit scores.

What credit bureaus does StellarFi report to?


Yes, we report to Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax– all major credit bureaus that are used by mainstream lenders to determine your credit score. Your report will say: Name, LOC amount, on-time payment.

Will StellarFi report my late payments?


StellarFi eliminates this concern by paying on time, every time, and working with you to collect the payment on the backend. With us, your credit report will reflect a StellarFi payment history.

Will StellarFi help me dispute errors on my credit report?


Yes, you can dispute errors inside of our dashboard. (Coming soon)

Can StellarFi help me find the best credit cards?


Yes, StellarFi will find the most tailored offer with the highest chance of approval based on your profile. (Coming soon)

Beta FAQ

How do I log into my account?


You will receive an invitation to download and log in to your account once it’s your turn in the beta waitlist line. During the beta phase, logins may vary by your time of entry, so keep your eyes peeled on your email.

How much will I pay to use StellarFi?


Beta users (StellarFi Pathfinders) will be able to use the Stellar app at no cost for 12 months, if you sign up before June 1st 2022.

How do I report an issue or ask a question?

When does the beta start?


StellarFi will gradually invite groups to enter the beta app by email. Due to high levels of interest in trying StellarFi, you will not be able to download the beta app until it’s your turn on the waitlist. If you haven’t already, you can sign up for StellarFi’s beta at stellarfi.com/beta.

What does it mean to be a Pathfinder at StellarFi?


Our StellarFi Pathfinders are an exclusive group personally selected by the StellarFi crew. Pathfinders will be the first to use StellarFi to build credit and achieve their financial goals.
